Columbus State Community College purchased 108 acres in Delaware County to establish a second campus north of Columbus. This academic building is the first structure on the new Delaware County campus. The building is two stories plus a basement occupying 87,000 square feet. The basement level houses mechanical rooms and tunnels to adjacent upper levels. The first floor accommodates uses for conferences, admissions offices, café, classrooms, data center, bookstore and a student learning center. The second floor reserves space for classrooms, laboratories and a distance learning center. The second floor laboratory spaces cantilever 11 feet past the first floor level. The area below this projection is an outdoor amphitheater style classroom that benefits from the shade cast by the rooms above. The entire southern exposure is enclosed by a two-story glass curtain wall which allows ample daylight into the facility. This project as achieved LEED Gold certification.
