McGuffey Hall is one of the original buildings on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Ohio University wanted to preserve the outward appearance of this building but update the interior spaces to accommodate a large meeting room on the lowest level for the Board of Trustees. Headroom in the building was minimal. We designed story-high trusses in the first floor's corridor walls to support the first, second, and roof structures. These trusses were designed with door-size openings to access the offices on each side of the center corridor. The basement floor was lowered to provide adequate ceiling height for the meeting space. The exterior of the building was cleaned and restored, but the appearance was unchanged.
