The City of Columbus’ McKnight Education Center is on the West riverbank of the Scioto River. The Net Zero Energy project has a multi-purpose space, science room, activity room, quiet rooms, kitchen, restrooms, and a lodge that is rented out to events or used for camps.
Sustainability was key to this project. It was built with locally-sourced stone and wood and features concrete floors to eliminate the use of harsh chemical carpet cleaners, skylights that let in daylight and fresh air and draws its energy from solar panels and geothermal wells.
