Hiring Project Manager - 500px

The mission of the Project Manager is to provide leadership and planning to our groups and project teams, ensuring that our deliverables are produced profitably and with the required level of quality. The Project Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare initial proposal/work with Director or Principal to prepare proposal
  • Ensure that the standard project procedure to support SMBH Quality is followed
  • Plan the project with respect to resources, milestone dates, and project budget
  • Identify scope changes and provide any appropriate guidance/mentorship throughout the course of the project
  • Monitor financial health of the project and communicate financial issues with team members when appropriate
  • Review and provide direction on monthly project invoices to our clients and from our consultants
  • May serve as Engineer of Record for managed projects
  • Provide general leadership and oversight to other members of the Project Manager's group

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Minimum of 8 years experience creating structural designs
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing smaller scale projects under the supervision of an experienced Project Manager
  • Expert level in the complete design of industrial buildings
  • Registered Professional Engineer "PE" recognized by a state licensing board
  • Strong technical background in structural engineering
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to lead and support multiple people on multiple projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiar with Deltek Vision software, especially the planning module

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Reaching, stooping, and kneeling may also be required to install computer equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

  • Coordinate the SMBH Structural model with the various design team models to create an accurate 3D model of the building structure
  • Efficiently produce high quality construction documents of building structures that accurately integrate information from design team models, construction drawings, verbal instructions and redline mark-ups of building structures using Revit

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and design steel, concrete, masonry, wood and cold-formed metal framing structures and components
  • Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Assists in the structural system selection
  • Builds relationships with external partners in the production of SMBH construction documents for standard and complex projects, responsible for the accuracy and completeness of documents
  • Determines code requirements
  • Keeps PM and Group informed and updated regarding project developments, especially those affecting scope, project budget and schedule
  • Understands SMBH contract and proposals as they relate to scope
  • Independently performs site visits to evaluate existing conditions and provide construction observation
  • May act as a Brand Manager
  • Takes initiative for process improvements
  • Regularly attends project meetings as sole SMBH rep

Work Environment:

  • Office
  • Occasional presence on construction sites
  • Occasional travel

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience creating structural designs focused on buildings
  • Registered Professional Engineer “PE” recognized by a state licensing board
  • Mastery with the statics of structures
  • Advanced in design software: RAM Structural Systems, Revit and AutoCAD
  • Member of a professional practice organization and attends local events with a leadership role preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Reaching, stooping, and kneeling may also be required to install computer equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • Comfortable on a ladder or lift in a construction site environment
  • Construction site safety requirements must be followed as dictated by the site
